What you need to start a group at your church or in your community:

  • A point person to keep the group on track.
  • A group of moms wanting to unite in prayer.
  • A list of children's/teen's names.
  • Written prayers - Found on this website or you can write your own. See the Resources page.

There are a few ways you can do this. You don't need to gather in one place to pray, although that is an excellent way to bond and share as well as pray. Sometimes it isn't practical for everyone to gather, so here are some other ways:

Method 1

  1. Designate the amount of time your group wants to pray, i.e. every Wednesday for a month. Pick which day will meet your group's needs.
  2. Pick which prayer your group will pray on which week. There is power in unity when you are all praying the same scriptures over the kids.
  3. On the designated day/days, set aside time either individually or gather as a group to lift up the kids in prayer.

Method 2

  1. Designate the amount of time your group wants to pray, i.e. 1 month, 2 months, etc.
  2. Each mom can pick a different day to suit their schedule.
  3. Pick which prayer your group will pray on which week. Each mom should pray the same prayer that week. This way the kids are covered more than just one day a week. If you have enough moms, partner up moms on the same day so that they have a partner in prayer.

Method 3 (this is the method I use with my group)

The ladies in my group are scattered across the US so we pray individually, but connect once a week through a point person (me) via email.

  1. We unite in prayer for one month several times a year. Sometimes with fasting, sometimes without.
  2. Each mom picks a day that fits their schedule. If I have a lot of moms chooseing one day (Wednesdays are always popular), I ask if some would switch to another day so we have more than one mom on any given day. We have been blessed enough to have our kids covered seven days a week for a month!
  3. I choose or write a prayer for that week and send it out via email along with the kids names. Recently we have included a few words of a specific prayer request/need for the kids. If you do this, be sure to put a limit on words or it can get out of control.

Be sure to meet either physically or via email at the end of your prayer time to find out how you are all doing and to share praise reports.
